Topics on this page:
Booking and Availability
Call (651) 946-8464 to book. Have the appliance type, brand, model number and main symptom ready.
How do I schedule an appliance repair visit?
Call (651) 946-8464 during regular hours, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, to schedule a visit with Capitol Crest Appliance Repair. You can also email support@applianceinsaintpaul.com or use our contact page. A phone call is usually the fastest way to check the schedule, especially if you’re hoping for same-day service. Describe the appliance and the symptom so the visit can be planned properly.
What information should I have ready when I call?
Have the appliance type, brand, model and serial number, main symptom and your Saint Paul address ready. Specific details help us understand the problem before the visit:
Appliance type (for example, front-load washer or gas range)
Brand, plus model and serial number if you can find them
The main symptom and when it started
Any error code on the display
Photos of the model label and display are helpful. See What to Expect for a full checklist.
Can I book repair for more than one appliance at once?
Yes. Mention every appliance when you call so the visit can be planned around all of them, including any access details for each location, such as a basement laundry room and a kitchen. If several appliances are acting up and you’re not sure why, general appliance repair is a good starting point because it begins with the symptom rather than a single appliance category.
Same-Day and Emergency Service
Same-day service and emergency service are both available. Regular hours are 8:00 AM–6:00 PM.
Do you offer same-day appliance repair in Saint Paul?
Yes, same-day service is available. Openings depend on the day’s schedule, so the best step is to call (651) 946-8464 as early in the day as you can. Describe the appliance, the brand and what it’s doing, and we’ll tell you what the schedule allows. Having the model number and any error code ready makes that first call more productive.
What counts as an appliance emergency?
An appliance emergency is a situation where waiting causes real damage, loss or a household disruption you can’t work around. Common examples include:
A refrigerator or freezer warming with food inside
A washer or dishwasher actively leaking
A washer full of water that won’t drain
The only oven or stove in the home not working
Call and describe the situation, and we’ll talk through what can be done.
What Are Your Appliance Repair Hours?
Capitol Crest Appliance Repair’s regular hours are 8:00 AM–6:00 PM. Same-day service and emergency service are available; call (651) 946-8464 to check current availability. For an immediate safety hazard such as gas odor, fire, smoke or sparking, contact the appropriate emergency service or utility first.
What if my appliance breaks after hours?
Handle any immediate safety issue first, then call (651) 946-8464 during business hours. Shut off water to a leaking appliance if you can safely reach the valve, and keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to hold cold air as long as possible. Unplug a malfunctioning appliance only if the plug is dry and easy to reach. For gas odor, fire or smoke, contact emergency services right away.

Which Service Fits My Problem?
We repair 14 categories of household appliances. If you’re unsure which fits, describe the symptom when you call.
What appliances do you repair?
Capitol Crest repairs refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, water filters, washers, dryers, ovens, stoves, cooktops, convection microwaves, range hoods, dishwashers and trash compactors, plus general appliance repair. Each category has its own page:
What’s the difference between your washer page and your dryer page?
Our Washing Machine & Dryer Repair page focuses mainly on washers: draining, spinning, filling, leaking and door or lid locks. Our Dryer Repair page covers dryer-specific problems like no heat, long dry times, no tumble and noise, in both gas and electric models. If both machines have problems, or you have a stacked unit, mention it when you call.
What’s the difference between an oven, a stove and a cooktop?
An oven is the enclosed cavity for baking, a cooktop is the burner surface, and a stove or range combines the two in one unit.
If your range’s oven won’t heat, the oven page fits better. If a burner won’t light, start with the stove or cooktop page.
Should I choose refrigerator, freezer or ice maker repair?
Choose based on which part of the system is failing: the main refrigerator, a standalone freezer, ice production or the water filter and dispenser.
If the freezer is cold but the fresh-food side is warm, see our freezer cold, refrigerator warm guide.
Do you repair appliances in garages or unheated spaces?
Yes. Garage refrigerators and freezers are common in Saint Paul homes. Many refrigerators are designed for a specific room-temperature range listed in the manufacturer’s documentation, so a cold Minnesota garage can affect how some models run, depending on the design. Our garage refrigerator winter guide explains what to check and when a unit may need service.
Not sure what’s wrong with it?
Describe the symptom — we’ll diagnose it and tell you what’s possible today.
Brands and Authorization
Capitol Crest services all major appliance brands as an independent repair company.
What brands do you service?
Capitol Crest services all major appliance brands, including GE, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Maytag, Bosch, Kenmore, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Electrolux and more. Mixed-brand kitchens and laundry rooms are common, so one call can cover several appliances from different manufacturers. Our Brands We Service page includes brand-specific notes on model labels and display codes.
What If My Appliance Is Under Manufacturer Warranty?
Capitol Crest Appliance Repair services all major appliance brands. If your appliance is under a manufacturer warranty or requires manufacturer-authorized service, check the manufacturer’s current warranty and service requirements before booking. Have the model and serial number ready when you call (651) 946-8464.
My appliance is still under manufacturer warranty. Should I call you?
Check with the manufacturer first. Warranty repairs are typically handled through the manufacturer’s own service network, so review the manufacturer’s terms before arranging outside repair, since outside work could affect that coverage depending on those terms. Once the appliance is outside manufacturer coverage, Capitol Crest is glad to help with diagnosis and repair.
Do you repair high-end or built-in appliances?
Yes, we service all major brands, including premium brands. Mention the brand and model when you call so we can discuss the specific appliance and how it’s installed. Built-in units can also shift repair-or-replace decisions, because a replacement has to match the existing cabinet opening, which often makes repair the more practical path when parts are available.
Model Numbers and Error Codes
Model and serial numbers are on a label, and error codes are shown on the display. Photos of both help.
Where do I find my appliance’s model and serial number?
Model and serial numbers are on a label whose location depends on the appliance and manufacturer. Common spots include:
inside the fresh-food compartment on a side wall or ceiling
inside the door or lid frame, or on the back panel
on the edge of the door or the tub frame
behind the oven door or storage drawer
Don’t pull heavy appliances out or remove panels to find a label. See How Old Is My Appliance?
My appliance shows an error code. What does it mean?
An error code usually points to a system or condition, not a specific failed part. Codes vary by brand, model and era, so your owner’s manual is the best starting point for what a code refers to. Even then, a code narrows the diagnostic path rather than proving which component failed. Our appliance error codes guide explains how to interpret them.
Should I reset my appliance before calling?
A single power reset is sometimes reasonable, but repeated resets can clear stored information that helps with diagnosis. Photograph the code and note what the appliance was doing before you try anything. If the problem returns after one reset, stop and call (651) 946-8464 rather than cycling power again, especially if there’s a burning smell, leak or sparking.
Repair or Replace
It depends on the appliance’s age, condition, repair history, parts availability and installation fit.
How do I know if my appliance is worth repairing?
Whether an appliance is worth repairing depends on its age, overall condition, repair history, parts availability and whether a replacement would fit your space. After diagnosis, we explain what we found and give honest input, including when repair doesn’t make sense. The decision is yours. Our repair-or-replace guide walks through each factor in detail.
| Situation | Often leans toward |
|---|---|
| Newer appliance, one failed component, solid condition | Repair |
| Built-in or custom-fit unit that’s hard to match | Repair, if parts are available |
| Older appliance with repeated failures | Replacement worth considering |
| Discontinued model with hard-to-source parts | Replacement worth considering |
| Rust, cracked tub or widespread wear | Replacement worth considering |
These are tendencies, not rules. Every appliance and household is different.
Safety
Gas odor, sparking, smoke, burning smells and active leaks call for stopping the appliance immediately.
I smell gas near my stove or dryer. What should I do?
Leave the home and contact your gas utility or 911 from outside. Don’t operate light switches, appliances, phones or anything else that could create a spark while you’re inside. Don’t try to find the leak yourself. Call Capitol Crest for appliance repair only after the immediate hazard has been handled and the utility or emergency responders have cleared the situation.
My appliance is sparking or smells like it’s burning. What now?
Turn the appliance off right away. If you can safely reach the breaker, shut off power to that circuit. Don’t restart the appliance to see whether the problem repeats, since that can make damage worse or create a fire risk. Call 911 for any fire or smoke that doesn’t stop, then call (651) 946-8464 once the area is safe.
Water is leaking from my washer or dishwasher. What should I do?
Stop the cycle and shut off the appliance’s water supply valve if it’s accessible and safe to reach. Keep people and pets away from water near outlets or cords, and don’t touch a plugged-in appliance while standing in water. Wipe up what you safely can, note where the water appears to be coming from, then call us to schedule repair.
My dryer is extremely hot or keeps shutting off. Is it safe to use?
No. Stop using the dryer until it’s checked. Overheating and repeated shutoffs often relate to restricted airflow, such as lint buildup in the vent line or snow and ice blocking the exterior vent hood during Minnesota winters. Running a dryer with poor airflow creates a fire risk. Our dryer repair page explains what we look at during diagnosis.
What repairs should I never attempt myself?
Never attempt gas, sealed refrigerant, microwave high-voltage, live electrical or major disassembly work yourself. These carry risks of fire, injury, shock or costly damage:
Gas line connections or adjustments
Sealed refrigerant systems
Microwave internals, which can hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged
Live electrical testing
Major disassembly of panels, pumps or controls
Safe checks, like confirming power or cleaning a lint screen, are fine.
Service Area
Our core service area is Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Do you serve my address?
Saint Paul is our core service area. Visit Service Areas or call (651) 946-8464 to confirm coverage for your specific address before booking. We work in single-family homes, duplexes, apartments, condos and townhomes. For multi-unit buildings, mention parking, elevators, building entry or property-manager coordination. Renters may want to check with their landlord about who arranges appliance repair.
Not sure what’s wrong with it?
Describe the symptom — we’ll diagnose it and tell you what’s possible today.
Cost and Warranty Questions
Call us for current pricing and policies. We don’t publish fees or repair warranty terms on this website.
How much does appliance repair cost?
Appliance repair cost depends on the appliance, the problem and any parts needed. Two refrigerators with the same symptom can need very different repairs, which is why diagnosis comes first. We don’t publish a fee schedule or diagnostic-fee policy online. Call (651) 946-8464 to ask about current pricing before booking. Cost is shaped by the appliance type, the system involved, part availability and whether a return visit is needed.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
We don’t publish repair warranty terms on this website. Policies can depend on the repair, so ask about the current policy when you call (651) 946-8464 and get accurate information for your specific appliance before work begins. If your appliance is still covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, check with the manufacturer first, since that coverage is separate from any repair company’s policy.
